Faye from Cowboy Bebop

I got this kit from eBay and it is a Thai recast (yes, I know, stupid me ) The only reason I got it was because I really like the music box and I wanted to see how I can handle it. The kit itself wasn't that bad, the fit was very good, but it was very very hard. The music box was in OK shape, except the top part of it. I had to totally re sculpt it (see photos). One of the first things I did was saw off her shoes from her legs. It is much easier to paint and it looks more natural. Her hair was a mess too, so I had to use lots of putty to get in into shape. Still considering that this is a Thai recast I had fun building it. Now a little rant about the colors I really don't know who was the original designer for Faye character, but he (I bet its a HE, no respected woman would wear this) was totally color blind. I am not talking just about the outfit (which is very weird), no I am talking about colors. The guy picked all of the prime colors and put them all together. Yellow shirt, red jacket, pink stockings, blue shoes, orange bandanna, purple hair, green eyes, black spandex Color blind I tell you. So anyway, I had to adjust the colors a little bit. Orange bandanna is gone, its the same color as the shirt now. Her stockings is more natural beige color (and not glossy ). The buttons on her shirt match her shoes and there is purple shadows on her red jacket. I tried my best to bring the colors together and I actually like it now The funny thing was that I finished Faye very fast, but it took me forever to paint the music box and find a nice base for her. At last she is done.

Faye from Cowboy Bebop

This was an impulse buy. I like Cowboy Bebop a lot, but I already have way too many kits as it is. But sometimes I just can't resist. I got this kit on Ebay and yes it is a Thai recast. For some weird reason, I really wanted to work on the music box that Faye is sitting. The recast is not that bad (most of details were still there and the fit was very good), but the music box is a mess. I had to re-sculpt some of the parts for it.

One of the first things I did was separate her shoes from her legs. I really don't understand why sculptors still do that. It is so much easier to paint if it is separate. But I guess it would be easier to make casts, the good thing that I can fix it.

The only big problem with Faye was her hair. The resin is very hard and brittle so I couldn't carve as much details as I would like. Plus, had some time consuming repair done on her jacket, ones it was painted. I didn't want to leave a connection line where the parts meet. Otherwise it was quite easy to put her together.

Now I have to finish up the music box and design a base for her. It is kind of funny that the part I wanted to paint is the last one I am doing.

Etna from Disgaea

Another one of my competition entries. This time for E2046 winter contest. I finished her and Shii at the same time, but forgot to post pictures. I keep forgetting that I have this blog and that I need to update it ones in the while.

Anyway, I didn't win, but it was lots of fun working on Etna. Plus the person who got the first place did really deserve it.

Arisugawa Shii is done.

Finally my Shii is done. I had lots of issues with her. First I had to repaint her thigh area twice. Next, her hair was a pain in the ... back. Also I had to repaint her sword at least three times ( it was dark silver, gold next, and final metal) I am very happy with her skin tone and her hair. I get lots of opposite responses about her stockings (too shiny), but I think it kind of fits her.

The best thing about her is that she is done.
